I just listened to an informative and inspiring conversation that Judge Michael Corriero, Executive Director and Founder of the New York Center for Juvenile Justice, had with Gov. Paterson last week, which is available here.
They spoke about an issue that is critical to those of us in North Carolina — the movement to raise the age of juvenile court jurisdiction from 16 to 18. As you know, North Carolina and New York are the ONLY two states in the U.S. that end delinquency jurisdiction at the young age of 16, while the majority of states set the upper cap at 17 or 18. It’s only a 10 minute piece, and I encourage you to check it out.
